The original blued metal finish is in good condition showing wear and thinning on the barrel and ejector rod housing. The letter prefix practice ended in late 1959/early 1960. It is said that Bill Ruger skipped many numbers in each sequence to keep the competition guessing on how many guns were being made. The initial production was in lots of 999 guns each with a sequential letter pre-fix. This is an “alphabet” gun with a letter pre-fix. There is some relief scroll work on the stock and inlays of German silver. The full-length striped hardwood stock is in very good condition. The lock plate, hammer and frizzen are a dark brown patina with surface rust. The finish on the barrel is a dark brown patina with edge wear, light rust and some dings and scratches. The barrel and lock plate are un-marked, there is some scroll work on the barrel near the breech end. 0.880” across the flats at the muzzle and approx. The bore is rifled and is in good condition with light rust. Approx.45 caliber (0.460”) black powder flintlock rifle with a 44” octagon barrel. The action works fine and the gun appears to be complete including the ramrod. There are 2 sets of numbers stamped on the left side of the butt. There is a crack on the left side at the rear band spring. The full-length walnut stock is in good condition with some dings and marks from use. There is a small patch of surface rust near the rear sight. The metal finish on the barrel and barrel bands is in the white with some minor dings and scratches, particularly at the muzzle from bayonet mounting. This is an Allin conversion of an 1863 Springfield rifle, approx. The bore is very good to excellent, clean with strong rifling.
